Programs

Out to Innovate’s mission is executed through its ever-growing programs, which

  • empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics by providing education, advocacy, professional development, networking, and peer support, and
  • educate all communities regarding scientific, technological, and medical concerns of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people

We provide networking opportunities to our members attending their professional society meetings, have a permanent presence at the AAAS Annual Meetings, ACS National Meetings, and SACNAS Annual Meetings, and are developing additional relationships with other professional societies. See the Networking section for more information about meetings.

We provide professional development opportunities through our Mentoring ProgramCareer Services connections, and our biennual Out to Innovate™ Career Summit for LGBTQ+ people in STEM, and our Fellowship Program for trans and non-binary grad students and post-docs in STEM.

We raise visibility and create empowerment through our Recognition Awards Program , which celebrates and honors LGBTQ+ people who have made outstanding contributions to their fields in science, engineering, and education, and through our Scholarship Program, which promotes academic excellence of talented LGBTQ+ students in STEM career paths.

We educate all communities about science, technology, and medical concerns of LGBTQ people through balanced and topical Symposia and targeted Workshops.
